TRUSTED BY THESE WELL KNOWN BRANDS AND HUNDREDS MORE.
For an area with a high proportion of more affluent residents, a look at the most expensive wood flooring may be of interest... We’re talking about exotic hardwoods such as Makassar ebony, also known as Calamander wood, which comes from India and South East Asia. Not a true ebony, it’s very dense and dark brown to black with orange-gold streaks. But to really make an impression, little beats the striking beauty of Tiger wood or Brazilian Koa. Brown to reddish brown intertwined with bold orange stripes, this African native wood is now farmed in South America. It does tend to darken on exposure to sunlight. And is difficult to dry from its full-resined tight grain. Its extreme hardness also puts it beyond ordinary cutting equipment. All too much effort - let alone cost? Our honest home-grown woods such as oak and pine still do a great job! |
